Visiting Wicken Fen

fen

An ancient fenland landscape and internationally renowned wetland site, Wicken Fen is home to the Wicken Vision Project, the Trust's most ambitious landscape-scale habitat restoration project. Explore one of England's most diverse wetland sites boasting more than 7,000 species of wildlife including otters, water voles and tree sparrows. Wicken Fen offers a mosaic of wetland habitats making sightings of raptors such as harriers, owls and kestrels commonplace. Konik ponies and Highland cattle can be seen grazing the reserve all year round and White Park cattle graze near the visitor centre from April to October. A raised boardwalk makes this rare and unique wildlife haven accessible and enjoyable for all, all year round.

Neighbouring cities include Cambridge, Newmarket the home of horse racing and be sure to visit Ely's magnificent Cathedral all within a 10 miles radius.

Wicken is a delightful small village with a traditional pub; The Maid Head, which is worth a visit.
